107 running after 30 years outside
Well, I'm not new here, but I haven't been online for quite some time. I originally left not long after joining, because I was kinda bullied a bit for being new here. However, I've heard that things are better now, and decided to give it another go. Since then, I've been busy working on many projects, but most notably this tractor. This is my 1970 107, with quite a story behind it.
When I bought it it was outside (minus the engine, which was indoors) in pieces, with a bad hydro. I pulled it out and took it home with the intentions of it eventually running again. After 3 years of work (and looking for replacement parts) It finally came to life again. Currently it has the hydro out of a 105 on it, and it seems to work pretty well. Only issues are its a bit leaky, and because it isn't original, the brake system doesn't set the hydro back to neutral when you press the pedal. The engine is practically brand new still, although not the original engine to the tractor. It was taken from another tractor and the 2 engines were swapped. She runs pretty well for her age, and no, I never plan to restore it because it really is a true survivor. Well first, great to have you back on the forum. Too bad that you felt bullied before. There are a lot of good people on here, men and women, both. Sometimes in life, you have to filter out the bad to see the good. Nonetheless, I'm glad you are back and sharing your 107 project. It looks like a good solid tractor in great shape and ready to provide many years of heavy duty service. You may want to make sure that the exhaust is securely braced or install it like it was from the factory. When it is mounted as a stack, it can cause unnecessary torque on your engine and crack it.

A new muffler might do it better, that current one is barely a muffler anymore. Its pretty rotted out internally after years of sitting. The machine is quite loud when running, but then again it sounds rather cool. It is secured pretty well, in part due to the removal of the upper bracket allowing for it to be fastened closer to the engine. Previous owner had one with the same style setup, he ran it and abused it for years with the exact same exhaust setup and never had a problem with it. Only difference was he had a hole cut in the side of the hood to make space for that upper muffler bracket to sit in. Thanks for the information though!

Thanks! Guess I should mention its not gonna be a real heavy worker, after the life it had before I bought it, I plan on letting it live an easy life. That being said, It is NOT just gonna sit and collect dust, as it is a fun machine to putt around the neighborhood on. It'll also be going to shows once we start having them around here again.

I took a few more pictures of the 107, figured I'd post them. Yes, those are custom dual LED lights. Very good for seeing at night when you're racing down the road at 10 pm

I may not have had a clue about the hydro transmissions at first, but I wasn't gonna let anyone convince me to give up. It may have taken a few years, but I finally got there in the end. A parts tractor destined for the scrapyard was saved.
