My first wide frame and a another NF
Last summer a friend of mine approached me with a Cub Cadet that was about to go to the junkyard and I said absolutely sure I'll come pick it up. It just needs a few necessities like a fuel tank starter generator regulator battery seat, and a couple minor other things. It's a spring project to get running again and get the hydraulic lift working.
1614294978742.jpg Also picked up another narrow frame last week, actually it just kind of got dropped off. Of course I thought I was going to use it for parts on the 149, but I think it'll make a nice machine to hook another Implement on. Turns out it's in better shape than I thought it's just a plain Jane though no attachments or features This one was also delivered with a parts 1720 with a mower deck. Don't know what I'm going to do with that yet.

Certainly glad to hear you were able to save it from needlessly becoming crushed and/or shredded scrap. Nicely done sir, I have three wide frames and love them.

I believe that once you give them what they need to live again, they will repay you for your help. Somehow, machines, especially older ones, know when they've been given a second chance and are usually very grateful for it

Yes, they like some maintenance! I will post some pictures of these here later. The wf is a 149, nf is a 127, second one in my fleet.

The second 127 NF
This is the second 127 I acquired several weeks ago. It is a mid Feb 1970. It has very few options, but will be a great tractor for around the yard. This will need a new wire harness at some time, and a fuel tank in progress. Hydro lever is seized somewhere. The tires on the rear and front are in excellent shape for what I think are the factory installed. It has some mouse debris in the engine under the tins. The po has a piece of wire jumped from the back side of the electric lift option connector to the batt terminal on the switch, not sure why.. Seems this would be bad for points/coil, because the power would never be removed.

Put an aftermarket carb on the 149, and it runs fairly well. Long ways to go yet.
Found out the cylinder is scored pretty bad in the other 127. And here was a first and reminder, i went to change the fluid in rear end, opened it up and it was empty . Ha good thing to check before trying to start it. So it needs a wire loom and engine.

Pull the head on the 127 and if you see the ol' STD on top of the piston, then have that bad boy bored and rebuild it. The tractor looks great, I've always liked that tire pattern and wish someone would make those again for that OEM look.

It has a vertical m-18. carb, mag, starter, charging system, heads, and other parts are usable on a horizontal engine. Also the deck has the new style tapered aluminum spindle housings that are a bolt in upgrade for stamped water pump style housings. Also the anti-scalp wheels can be retrofitted to the early 50A and50 C decks without them. Might consider purchasing 1 lotto ticket--- |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
