It`s hard to tell the difference between IHC and CCC on some models. No big difference I guess.... I can fully understand the desire here to collect those oldies . They were a lot of tractor then and even more impressive now.
Don, if you`ve been in FW for a number of years , you can remember IH here in FW, but I guess the product was only big trucks not tractors...

My red one is not a CCC model either. On the difference, especially between 83-85. I look at the SN. to see if its IHC/CCC. IHC, produced the Scout/Traveler and Trucks here in the Fort. I can not rememeber when they quit producing the Scout/Traveler line but the Trucks left in 83.

Ok on the red one not being kosher.
I must confess ,when the Cub was down for repairs , I picked up a little black one called Gardenway (Troy built). Never heard of that before, but it cut grass.
I was trying to remember the Scout, I dont think it was fancy but a good seller, something like a Bronco, I guess.
I remembered the 83 pull out because I got the ax the following year at GE. Manufacturing took a big hit in the 80's for this place anyway.

Frank, I done some engine work for a guy and he did not have enough money to pay the bill. He threw the red tractor in to settle the bill. Gardenway was the company before they became Troy Bilt. IHC had the Scout 1 and the Scout 2, basic engine was the Pontiac iron duke slant 4 cyl, 150 ci's. They also had a 4 cyl diesel engine, in some models. I guess you could say they was the competion for the early Bronco.

Jerry, the reason that I asked, there is a Flat Rock road running east out of Monroeville, IN towards the Ohio line and at one time there was a berg named Flat Rock, In. out there. You have a mighty fine collection of IHC Cub Cadets.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
