Walk-behind mower
So I'm thinking of replacing one of my Cubs with a walk-behind type machine with a sulky since 98% of what I do is mow. Part of the lawn is on a steep slope too so I can't mow it with the tractor, I have to push mow. I don't want to spend many thousands of dollars on a new a belt driven POS. Rather get a used machine, say 500-600 hours, that's well built, I would only put maybe 60 hours a year on it. I'm thinking 46"-50" deck. Any recommendations for an older well built machine?

I have 2 L's I'll get to someday, but I don't think you can get that big of a cut for them. Lotta SCAG landscaper fanboys around here. Newer Gravelys may have have bigger decks. Those would be the 2 brands I would look at. Saddly this one platform I would probably avoid the Cub/ MTD stuff.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
