Default China made Throwout Bearing

Getting ready to change out the clutch on a Cub 102 and thought I'd also change out the springs and throwout bearing.

Anyway I was looking at the Throwout and it reads China....It's packaged in a Genuine part package with Cub Cadet Troy-bilt Trade Marks.

Is this thing junk or is it good to go......thoughts please.

I run one of these but because it's longer you need the third pin that the spring rests against to be further back, I bought a new driveshaft from Jeff and drilled my own hole or you could use a split collar on your current shaft just to avoid having an extra hole.

I will say that bearings in general tend to come from all over the planet. I generally prefer stuff made in USA or Europe. What I find interesting is that say Fafnir (just picking a name at random) may supply bearings made in multiple countries. I'm pretty certain I have gotten combine bearings from Deere that were made in China.

Once I get into changing everything out I'll a look at the bearing that's in it ......if it looks good I'll repack it and put it back in.

The cub 102 is about 50 years old and the clutch is worn pretty thin but not being the orginal owner I don't know if it's ever been changed out.

Thoughts Please..

Don't do that. Just replace it. It's a PITA if the bearing fails later and you need to change it. I guess it's up to you, as it's your money, your time and your machine, but I wouldn't go to the trouble of disassembly and not change the t/o bearing.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
