Depends which one you're talking about. There's some that just include brushes, springs, and bearings. I bought one once with those parts plus start and field coils. No matter how much I compressed the coils I couldn't get both in with enough room for the armature. Tightened the field pole screws as much as I could and still no dice. I only needed the field coil so I used it and the old start cool and all was well. Not saying this would happen to everyone but it happened to me.
So what's yours doing?

I got inside and found a burnt field coil, what would cause that?
This is the kit I'm looking at http://www.ebay.com/itm/Delco-Starte...-/191052667651 I have a 1101691 starter generator. Could also get on the phone Tuesday to see if someone local rebuilds them. Thoughts Please......
