Default Relief valve drill tap and plug?

Hello...
1450 hydro relief valve (older style..not the ' push button' style) leaking from the tiny weep hole in top....i read where you can not just block it off because you can not 'push the tractor'....thoughts on drill n tap and put in a small pipe plug...if I do need to push the tractor I can remove the pipe plug? If possivbe, how far can i drill in ? Just about 1/4 to 3/8 deep?

The one without the button is an automatic one and actually the newer style. It is leaking out the hole because it is worn out. Contact this company. They can rebuild yours for a fraction of the cost of new.

Do not plug the hole, it needs to be there or the Tractor will not move.
Just think of it as if something plugged yer relief hole, you wouldn't move.
Then bad things happen

It leaks now but it is repairable, as mentioned above.
If you drill and plug, and it doesn't work, you will have trashed a repairable relief valve,
and now you will be buying a condition unknown used one, or a brand new one at greater cost.
Make sense?

The hole in the top of the relief valve is a "vent hole". Do NOT plug this hole.

No that it matters and everybody knows what's being talked about but; they are actually "release" valves and not "relief" valves. Hence why you can't push your tractor when plugged or for the older push bottoms, when they're in the up position.

It's only a terminology issue when someone says "shim your relief valve".

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
