New Coil...which one?
Hi all,
I have a 2186 with the Kohler 18hp Command. I've lost the spark on the number 2 cylinder. I changed the plugs and it ran the same, like on one cylinder intermittently. I figure bad coil. I've pulled the engine, the cover and took a pic of the coil and part#. I wanted to do all the cleaning under the cover, air ways, etc. It is a dirty mess but the cylinder cooling fins are fairly clean. Would you replace the coils with Koher OEM for about $100 of with after marker for about half the price. I'm leaner hard towards the Kohler. Thanks, Randy

You need to test with an ohm meter to see if in fact you have a
bad coil before spending money. |

I just bought a chinese coil from these guys and I'm happy with it, quality and price-wise. It was a dual coil for my M18.

Coil
I would go with the Kohler coils. I would not be surpised that they were not made in China.

Is this kit 24-755-307-S I've found it for $99 a couple times

Almost always better to go with the genuine parts, but if cost is an issue, by all means, go with the aftermarket offshore parts.

I went with two of these on Amazon.
GENUINE KOHLER PART 24 584 45-S MODULE, IGNITION (CDI FIXED) Visit the Kohler Store 4.7 out of 5 stars 192 ratings Price: $50.41 I installed and the engine runs good now. It was really dirty everywhere. I did some cleaning too which couldn't have hurt anything. Thanks, Randy

Yes it's worked out really well for me a couple times when the magnets were loose and broken on the flywheel.
