Hds 2185 catching the front wheel on the engine cover
Hi all, I recently picked up an hds 2185 and so far I love it. The issue I'm having is that the front wheel on tight turns will catch the side engine cover and pull it off. I've also noticed it really pushes the front end on tight turns as well, slow or fast.
Anyone else have this issue and possibly a resolution???

Firstly Welcome aboard
Download the manual as there are a whole range of issues that may cause your problem starting with the front axle being loose in its mounts etc Go through the manual and check off each area concerning the steering http://manuals.mtdproducts.com/mtd/P...randCode=10051 Oz

 I agree with Oz, sounds like something is loose in the front axle and or mounting.

That's kind of where my research had lead me. I believe both of you are correct so I'll download the manual today. Just wanted to see if I was possibly missing something simple. Thank you for the fast response. So far I love this thing. I picked it up for $500 bucks and just did some cleaning, replaced the deck blades and PTO. Runs and cuts beautifully!!!

It has the correct sized tires. They're the factory cub cadet tires. And it would be hard to post a pic honestly seeing as it only happens when I'm driving and the steering wheel is full lock one way or the other.

No need to see it moving just put the steering over to full lock so we can possibly assess what is wrong , also a photo from ground level looking up at front axle would be handy

I'll do that when I get home. I did notice last night while I was checking the voltage regulator that the pivot arm seems to have a little. Ovement forwards and backwards slightly. I'm wondering if the added torture from turning full lock and moving is enough to push the wheels into the side cover. I just bought wheel bearings for the front wheels as well. There's a good amount of movement in the front tires.

So I just got some time and threw one of the side panels back on quick for reference. This is the side it happens to 99% of the time. I also took a few pictures of the wheel clearance lock to lock on the side panel, as well as the pivot arm. I hope this is what you were looking for.
