I remove the front oil seal almost with my bare hands, now it's Google time for a new one but wait! The casing is not the same as the one I got on my M20 so what the frack is it?
Gilles, by "casing" are you referring to the the crankcase or "block"? In Virginia we use"casing" to make sausage and wells. No offense, I'm just trying to understand.

Exactly Travis! The front of that M18 crankcase is not the same as the M20, and when I talk about opening that can of worms I'm talking about splitting the crankcase of that M18 to see what crap he got inside.

I'm not cooking any sausage here! But talking about it get me hungry!

Well this is old thread but i bought a craftsman gt6000 for the engine on 1872. The crank and front plate are different. I swapped plates with old engine and got a shim for the crank/pto clutch to get it right size. Anyways your engine sounds just like my ex craftsman engine m18s.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
