Default 2072 steering problems?

Just picked up a 2072. Not too familiar w/power steering mechanics/operation, of this model. A steering spinner is on steering wheel and after making 180 degree turns most times the spinner/or steering wheel location is different. Sometimes the spinner is on left side, after completing turn, sometimes its on the right, sometimes at the top of wheel. Somethings not right, spinner should stay in same location after making any number of 180 degree turns. Am I not right? The revolutions of steering wheel keep changing while operating through turns. Other than this dilemma, power steering seems to be operating as it should. Thanks for reading/Any suggestions would be appreciated!

That is because the CC's are hydraulic steering, not mechanical hydraulic assisted like a car.

I had a similar situation on my 1772. Very poor steering response to steering wheel movement. Worse at lower rpm. I put new seals in the steering cylinder. It is not perfect yet but much better. You could pull your steering cylinder and if there is almost no resistance to moving the piston rod then you are probably leaking oil past the piston.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
