Enforcer only cuts shorter grass
Hello Everyone.
I am new to this site and I may be posting this in the wrong spot, feel free to advise me. I have a older but well maintained Cub Cadet Enforcer,2008 I think. The engine is in perfect running order, compression is at factory level,High running RPM,s may be a tad bit low but now by much.Belsts are new, unit very well greased, blades keep sharp. Here is my problem. I cannot cut longer grass with this unit unless I crawl with it,I have a cub cadet rider,21 hp I think,it will fly past it.When in long grass the RPM on unit drops and grass is not cut very even then.Keep in mind I have ear protection on and I am not 100 percent sure rpms are dropping a large amount.Blades are on tight and do not slip. I was wondering if it may be my electronic blade clutch,do they slip with age? Thanks for any advise or direction I should go. Matt |

Any chance you have oil leaking onto the PTO?

Check out these guys for PTO info or if you do need to replace it. They have some very good videos on trouble shooting problems.

The belt on my cub cadet zero turn will sometime jump off the tensioner, but the blades still turn and does pretty much what you describe.
Might give it a look. Randy

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
