Might be a fun build..... But I'd rather do it to say, a 1 ton pickup.

Tag axles in off road conditions are just trouble. The second axle bears half the load, and holds the drive axle off the ground. "Twin screw" is the only way to go. Can you do what you suggested? Sure. Would it work? Sure. Would it be very helpful? No.

If you could find a set of coil springs that small. Advantage of an air bag is you can adjust how much it carries.



They make small air bags for pickups. Probably more cost than it's worth unless you already have a set.

My dad's truck has a full Kelderman air ride on it. It's great when hooking up to a trailer because you can dump the rear bags and use the backup camera to get the ball under the tongue and then raise it back up, now all we need is a way to hook up the cable and chains so we don't have to get out at all.
