Default Mower

My wife requested late last summer that I get rid of the old tractors. She said get something which will cut fast. Something that I did not to scavenge for parts for all the time.

Took me just under 3 hours with SGT/Haban 60 inch deck by the time I mowed around everthing and blew it off with air.

My reply was, "It's gonna cost you". So over the last 6 months I liquidated my hoard. I only kept the 70 my neighbor gave me. Then I took delivery of this beast this past Friday.

"Mowing speeds up to 10.0 MPH and 6.55 acres/hr. based on 72" cutting width.*Actual results may vary".*

Nice ride !! I have been thinking about getting one of those front mounted decks , i have a lot of trees to mow under.

A ZT cannot be beat to mow large areas. My ZT is fast also , but most of my acreage is to rough to mow that fast.

Does your Grasshopper have a suspension like a Ferris ??

Nice ride Steve, too bad it is not yellow, The 10+MPH is not for mowing, it is for getting to and fro from one end of the field to the landscapers trailer. Saves on average 10 min a lawn, multiply that by how many they cut! Wow!

No shock absorbers like Ferris but the rear axle pivots and the front deck mounts do too. I tried out my brother in laws Ferris 3100. He bought it used/abused. Dang suspension was squirrely . Thing hopped, bobbed, and weaved as I was mowing. Maybe his shocks are worn out or not adjusted right. I just did not care for it.

My brother picked up one of these front deck Grasshoppers with a front mount blower at a household sale a couple years ago. He can fly with his mower. Wet grass. Tall grass. He even mows the small sticks without a care in the world. They have to be tough machines if he can't kill it.

My dad has the big Cub Cadet Tank SZ with steering wheel. It mows real nice but the front flip up deck on these models are what I have been eyeing for a couple years. No more using jacks and tugging my guts out to get the big Haban decks on and off!

Still have a NOS Haban deck for sale for anyone interested.....

Could be painted.....

Nice ride. Getting job done faster is worth it. You'll get more savings with time than what it cost ya.

I looked into a ZT,, several salesmen told me I have too many steep spots to mow,,,
so,, I got this instead of a ZT,,

I can mow 10MPH,, no concerns about the rough ride,, the tires absorb all shocks,,
I have had the mower over a decade,, total service to the mower has been several pumps of grease per year,,,

If I could have had a ZT,, it would have been the Grasshopper,,,

I got a Scag 52" stander this past summer, it's more of an enabler than a buzzkill to my Cub fanaticism. I've been thinking of selling my 1863 now though, since I don't need to rely on Cubs as workers anymore I can have a bit more flexibility in spending time on ones that are more fun to own than strictly useful. Case in point my new 126.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
