Default Mowing deck compatibility

I have a Red IH 682 with a well rusted 50" mowing deck. I have located a yellow MTD Cub 682 with a good 44" deck. I would sure like to know if that deck will work on mine before driving 100 miles to see it. Appreciate any help

First, welcome to OCC.......

The 38C, 44C, and 50C mower decks will fit and work fine, on your 682.

Default Deck for 682

Thank you for your reply. I know a 44C deck will fit my IH682, do you know if the 682 made by MTD used the 44C deck? The tag is unreadable on the deck of the MTD Cub 682. If it was closer I would just go and check it out, it will be worth the trip if I am reasonably sure I can use the deck. Thanks again for your help

Yes. CCC & IH made both red and yellow machines (e.g. I have a yellow 782 from CCC, but my dad has a red 782 from IH) for the different dealer streams (red = IH ag, y/w = CC residential/lawn & garden).

Default 682 mowing deck

Thank you for the info. I think I will make the trip and check the condition of the MTD 682. By the looks of the picture it should be worth $500

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
