Default xt1 fuel line connection

OK, so where does the fuel vent line connect to front of engine?

I am at a loss to see any connection points, other than what I mentioned above. But, it appears that the "cap" may be for the plastic tube under the air filter housing.

Can anyone post a picture of their connections at front of engine? Thanks.

If that nipple is the only one on that piece the evap line goes there. No plug required.
What i would do is plug that nipple and the one on the tank because that evap hose will always be a problem. All that hose does is get nasty and crumble and get your hands all black from touching it. It's not necessary and doesn't serve any purpose other than keeping EPA employees employed.
If you need a cap get one at orielly, ask for vacuum caps/ plugs.

I can't say I know it for a fact, but a guess would be that the fitting on the tank may provide venting for the tank. If that is the case, capping it could create vacuum in the tank and cause fuel starvation.

Going back to the question about part #1 in the drawing, it is called a masking cap, and again a guess is that the same air filter base is used on some tractors without evaporation lines and the cap is used to block dirt. Since you have no masking cap it is obvious that the nipple is for the evap hose.

The system is designed to prevent gas fumes from polluting the air. You can replace the line and slip it on that nipple, or leave it off completely, your engine will run the same. But I respectfully disagree about capping it at the tank.

Default fuel line

Thanks for the responses. In looking at some youtube videos, I saw one that showed the evap line connecting to the plastic nipple at the bottom right of the filter.

Then, saw one where the guy took off his carb, and the vent line was connected to a port on the top of the carb.

I suppose different years had different carbs and different connections?
