Default New vs. Old

Finally time to replace the 30 year old Cub Cadet 2182. It's been a great mower, motor still runs perfectly, but everything else is wearing out. I'm tired of working on it more than mowing with it. Bad Boy Rogue 61" deck, 35hp.

30 year old mowers are going to need to be worked on. Keep it to piddle around with and enjoy mowing with the new Zero Turn.

I bought this mower about 7 years ago, it was missing the hood assy. then, it has been a really great mower, mowed a lot of ground that probably should have been bush hogged, and I agree, old mowers do require work, I'm just getting old and tired of working on the mule drive and deck lift assy. Many of the mounting points are getting real sloppy, and the baffles in the haben deck are pretty beat up from years of rock hits. The little Kubota 3 cyl. engine still runs amazingly well.

Time to throw some money at the 2182, and let it enjoy a well deserved, peaceful retirement. All that you have described as wrong can be repaired pretty easily. Those little 3 cyl. Kubotas, whether gas or diesel, will far outlast the rest of the already stout tractor.

As for zero turns, hate the looks of all of them, but they have their place-just not for me.

When I Bought My, 1991 2182 Last Year. I Purposely left the deck with Rob Houtz as I wasn't Going to do any mowing with it. I knew the 2182 Had only done mowing where Rob Picked it Up down In Springfield, IL.

Mowing Just gets these Tractors more dirty than working in the dirt. I have Basically Made the 2182 a Limited Cat 1 & Cat 0 3point Utility Tractor (Thanks to Xtreme & Bill Ruegg). Though I did try out the 450 snow blower on it Twice this past winter. None of My 13 Garden tractors will be Used for Mowing if I can help it. I'll let the Cub Cadet SX54 Z-Force Handle the Mowing from now on, and The Garden tractors & Compact tractor will handle the dirt and snow removal work

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
