Thumbs up My sixth..a 1984 682

Got it cheap, and it was 1/2 hour away. All disassembled, but mostly there. I will be replacing the blown KT17 Series II with a Magnum 18 that I had sitting in my basement. Nice original paint and decals.

LOL

The sheriff's car is my first love. You may recognize it from an obscure documentary of the South from 1977..

While waiting for the governor gear to arrive for the M18, I tore into the rear diff/Sunstrand Hydro unit. The previous owner rebuilt it with new bearings and seals, but upon reassembly, he put the directional control lever on the wrong side of the unit. So not trusting his work after such an elementary mistake, the entire unit was torn down and inspected. Fortunately, the only other thing that was suspect was the original input shaft seal. I had one in the parts cabinet, so that is done.

M18 is all together, bolted in the chassis, and running well. Waiting on some other parts for the transaxle, then getting that bolted in and hope that it works well.

Wink

I am looking for a 44C or 50C deck and mule drive for it, and I will use it to mow.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
