Well it has been a long time since I posted here, but I just wanted to say that the 1015 is still going strong!

I have mowed 4 times this year and haven't had a bit of trouble. I did notice that the cut quality wasn't all that great, so today I pulled the deck off to clean and sharpen the blades. They were very dull again, but they're all sharpened up now. I hope to try them out tomorrow if the rain holds off. I think the linkage ferrules need adjusted again because the deck didn't seem all that level anymore, but that's a project for another day.

The 1015 sat all winter in my "garage" and fired right up in the spring.

We bought a house (which we are SUPER excited about) so I'm hoping to get a few more years out of this thing. We move in on-or-before 30JUN.

By the way, I don't regret the ag tires or the wheel weights at all. This combination is a must-have for such a light machine trying to mow rough terrain. Plus the tread marks in the mud just look cool.

This was my project today:

Ordered this last week.

Shot from the front:

And a closeup of the support bracket we built to secure the muffler to the chassis:

Overall, it made the engine MUCH quieter than the pepper-shaker muffler I had on as a temporary fix. It's still not as quiet as I would like (perfectly silent like new ones are). But I'm satisfied - and it looks awesome to boot!

That Cub is coming a long way! You've given me a newfound respect for the little ones! Really dig the ags and the stout looking muffler setup!

Well the house I bought has a much smaller yard than the apartment did, and I have decided to sell the 1015. I can push mow the yard in less time than using the rider!

Thanks all for your words of encouragement. Hopefully I can find a buyer who will take care of it - it's been a great machine and a great learning experience for me since I bought it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
