Well I'm picking up the tires tomorrow evening!

This is the pic from the Pennswoods ad for those too lazy to click on it:

I know it's not an "ag" tractor per se, but these do look sweet and maybe I'll have some traction now. Right now I have to rock the tractor and lean on the tire that's spinning to get it to bite... assuming that's just because it's so light.

Great looking ag tires. The building with the windows boarded up I think was the one I believe there was an apartment in the front up stairs that we finished. Then we got a lot of the down stairs done new sheet rock and paint little bit of wiring. Just cant remember why we never went back. I think there was a divorce or something.
Those places are castles compared to the one I just put the furnace in up over the hill from you, That's the one I'm talking about being dumpy.

Nice tires, you got there. Let's see some pics of them on your cub!

Load them and add wheel weights, spin no more. Ok maybe less. hehe

Well I picked up the tires today after work! They're in awesome shape, just needed a couple years of barn dirt washed off of them. The rims are pretty beat, and they won't fit my Cub anyway.

So, no pics of the ags installed tonight... but I'll take them to the tire shop on Saturday to have them swapped onto my rims. I can't wait!

Oh and Methos, there is a place nearby that fills tires with foam so I'll probably do that whenever I'm ready to load them. No way in heck I'll use CaCl2 and I'm not a fan of using anti-freeze or washer fluid for anything but its intended purpose.

Got the ags installed yesterday! They look great and work even better. I will post pics later today once my camera has charged up. Now when I do a quick reverse/forward directional change, it digs up the yard lol.

The deck is acting up again though. It throws the belt now (the nice new OEM belt). The bolt/nut that holds the belt tensioner arm to the deck body keeps loosening up, the tensioner flops around, and the belt flies off. I'm going to take the deck off again and install some new hardware (and lots of loctite) on the tensioner arm.

Always something... will report back later today with pics of the tires.

I'm seriously running out of patience with this stupid deck.

The tensioner spring snapped. Went to the Cub dealer and picked up a new one. Installed it.

The bearings in the deck double-drive pulley literally exploded and threw balls everywhere, so back to the Cub dealer I went to pick up new bearings. Fought for about an hour trying to get the remains of the old bearings out of the pulley, but I eventually got them (with a Dremel, hammer, and chisel).

I thought the bad bearings in this pulley might have been causing the deck belt to be thrown off. Not the case. It continued to do it even after everything had been reassembled (after every 1 or 2 passes in the yard). I tried moving the tensioner to the other mounting position (a bit less tension) which caused the belt to come off less often but didn't resolve the problem.

I ALMOST got the whole yard mowed before the belt just completely snapped! This belt looks exactly like it did in the pictures I posted a couple pages back. It looks like it's stretched to the point of breaking. This is a brand new OEM Cub belt with less than 5 hours on it.

Also, at the same time, it throws the PTO belt off the front (engine) pulley... although no damage occurs to it.

I just don't know what else to do. It doesn't make sense to me why the belt keeps getting thrown and then destroyed when all this stuff has been replaced/fixed.

Unhappy Dont give up!

I would start it up, engauge the mower deck, get off the tractor and get down on the grass and watch untill the belt comes off, and the other breaks. I dont know if all the saftey swiches will let you get away with that. On my White, no saftey nothing....You sure have put alot of time and money in to the tractor. There has to be a reason and if I come across any information to help I'll let you know. Great deal on the tires!

I'm going to have to do something like that. Maybe I'll post a video.

The deck shakes around like mad also when it's engaged - haven't figured that out yet either. I imagine it's because the blades have been "sharpened" (and I use that term loosely) by so many people over the years that they are unbalanced. I did my best to straighten them up when I sharpened them, but I know they aren't perfect.

And yeah, the seat safety switch is disabled. It was disconnected when I bought it, and I hooked it back up just to test, but ended up taking it back off since sometimes I have to stand up and lean one way or another to give one rear wheel traction lol.

Quick questions. First, wich lift arms do you have, the scissor style, or the style where the arms come straight down from the lift mechanism, and the rear mounts goes fromt he deck up to mounts attached to the foot boards? Also, do you have the front mount piece installed on the tractor under the motor and to the deck by the front wheels. I discovered after ruining two sets of the scissor lift arms that I had forgotten that piece! My dick did just as you described! Third, I have a angled piece that goes onto my bolt that hold the PTO belt pully on. If that is the wrong direction, that could also exsplain it. Beyond that, I have not experianced anything yet in the two months Ive owned my machines! LOL. Give me time once either are back up running again! LOL.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
