It may sounds like a GT but it still a vertical engine with a bell drive hydro! Does a K66 TT or G730 HG tranny transform a LT in a true GT? I don't think so but since my statement is not helping the OP to found out a answer to his question I avoid high jacking his thread , until he shim in with his model we are all clueless.

On a paved driveway it will be just fine. Wheel weights won't do as much as your weight as far as helping you plow. Chains are great if you are working on a base of packed snow or ice, but aren't needed on paved surfaces. The tractor can do the work, but you will have to keep after a heavy snow instead of waiting for it to stop. If this machine is what you use for all yard work, think about a more aggressive tire. If plowing snow is a frequent occurence. You will have to be more careful when mowing however because that tire will tear up the yard easily. When you try to push a lot of snow the front digs in and the rear wheels lose weight. That's why you have to keep up with the snow.

Like suggested, that you check and see if your LT is capable of handling ground engaging equipment. The reason I stated this is, I seen several LT's with a big warning sticker that states not for use with ground engaging equipment. I have also repaired a couple of LT's that had the snow blade kit on them and the frame broke and split in the front axle bucket area.

I think this front blade http://www.homedepot.com/p/MTD-46-in...mtd+snow+blade

and a set of chains for the rear and hopefully I'll be in business. Could have used it this morning. We got 3-5" total.

Anyone have this setup?
For that much money, I would bet you could find a nice Cub Cadet GT, with a snow blade, and have a REAL snow mover,,,

$300 is EXACTLY what I payed for my blade machine!!

It ain't purdy, but, it REALLY moves the snow!!

If it's a "GTX" it's a garden tractor...not a lawn tractor.
HInt....GT = garden tractor..............LT = lawn tractor.

The last GT MTD ever build was the 3000 series. A Garden Tractor can be purchase or fit with optional ground implement like a tiller, a Brinly cultivator or a wheel sleeve plow. They have a optional sleeve or cat 0 lift from the factory, some even have rear PTO drive, none of those option can be purchase from CC anymore. Only few "True" GT can be purchase with a optional tiller today among them the JD X500 and Simplicity Conquest.

Had same blade on a 4216 yard machine fast attach equipment bought at big box store in 2000. I think it is very similarly built to a 1170 cub,at least hood side panels etc. look the same,i plowed with it till last year. Transaxle wore right thru aluminum housing causing differential to break.When I took it apart right front of frame was broken off. I think it wasn't built for the stress of heavy snow and pushing snow banks back. I guess what Im saying like its been said earlier don't push it to hard and it will work. That set up lasted 13yrs by Ann Arbor Mi.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
