There should be 2 belts on the front pulley.

If you can't see the the belt it is probably wrapped solidly up in the front pulley and fun to get out of there. My LTX1045 has gone through two of the belts, both times taking the fan with it. The last time it did not wrap around the engine pulley. Like you, Home Depot, cub cadet name, great mower when it is mowing and not throwing one of the belts. But and I say but, is not like Dad's IH Cub Cadet. I went out fount me a couple of IH cadets to get going. Good luck.

Thanks for your answer though and a headsup.
This concerns me more than the belt and fan issue. It should roll with the hydro release. I'm thinking maybe the pump took a dump and locked up causing the belt to fail. Don't know, never worked one of these and I have no plans of starting now.

My BIL bought one of these after I tried to talk him into a 2185 that I had fixed up but he had to have "New" it tossed the belt after about 5 hours, then he wanted me to fix it. Yeah like that was going to happen, told him to take it back to TSC. Well TSC told him to take it to the Cub dealer who just happened to be too busy taking care of customers that had bought from him to fix TSC sold tractors. LMAO

The belt should be an easy fix. I've been lucky with my LTX1042. Hopefully this weekend I'll do a engine oil and filter change and sharpen the blades. This will be the fourth full year of mowing with it. Got it on camp duty with a couple of IH Cub Cadets.

Good luck,
Bill

Took it in yesterday, after using a comealong to get it onto the trailer, lol.
They jumped up on the trailer and wiggled something udnerneath and it started rolling. They said there were two problems just happened to occur at the same time.
1-brakes locked up, they'll grease those.Said it was common on this model.
2-belt came off, caused fan to come off.

We'll see. It still made a really big moaning sound when you pushed the hydrostat in.
Also had em sharpen blades. And do something about it being hard to start. Thing would start easily with a shot of carb cleaner. It has never really started good. They said something about maybe just adjusting the valves.
Anyways...maybe have it back next week.
Just thought you guys would want to know.

Thanks for the update. And if you don't mind, let us know what it cost you to have the belt changed. Some of the members here, like you may not want to attempt it themselves for various reasons. I'm retired so I certainly can find the time for these things.

Replace belt and fan, and sharpen blades, lube brakes, tax and all was 110.00.
Wasn't a big deal apparantly. Only one hour of work time, 10 for fan, 30 for belt.

Glad to get back at it. Ran like a champ.
Thanks for the help and thoughts guys
FYI, if you have hayfever, it's a bad idea to have your daughter use the leaf blower to clean you off after mowing. All the polllen blew in my eyes and up my nose and mouth. Thought I was going to have to go get an epi shot. Seemed like fun at the time...
worse idea ever.

That's a great deal. Keep using these guys. They have given you a better than fair price for that work.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
