Default Cub Cadet LTX 1040 w/ numerous issues

My Cub Cadet has given me fits after I changed the engine to deck belt or Pto belt I assume. The present problem(think I fixed others) is it won't engage or disengage when putting the lever in engage or pull it back to disengage. the lever doesn't go all the way back and is basically in the middle. Thinking could be in the cable, but I just don't know. its been a week and a half ordeal, and the Grass needs cut. I would GREATLY APPRECIATE any info. Thank YOU I really APPRECIATE IT !!!!

Well, from the pics you posted, it looks broken.

You basically gave us nothing. Get down on your knees and look to see what is working, and what isn't. Cable operated PTO's are as easy as it gets.

Take it back to the dealer and have them fix it.

Sounds like you have the belt routed wrong or the wrong belt. Post some qood quality pics so folks can see where you have the belt routed. Did you get the belt from Cadet or did you have a parts house match it up---either way if it appears routed correctly you need to see if you have the correct one.

I didn't get to take any photos yesterday but I did take a small pair of vise grips and pulled the excess out of the pto cable or the cable that goes from Pto lever to the deck, it did engage then, so I mowed til dark, wouldn't disengage maybe because i took all the slop outta the cable and clamped it. Not sure, I did mow til dark that way.

j mech im new at this. bear with me .., i broke the cable to the pto and cant find any information on how to fix it. doesnt look easy to me. there is a steel box around the shifter and you cant get to it, unless you take the whole body off. i have a cc 1040 and have been on this site and can find nothing to help take it off. If some info is out give it tro me please.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
