Default Wide frame drag link

Is the drag link supposed to be bent to clear the frame on the spindle end? I’ve had two other wide frames at one time or another and do not remember them being bent. I don’t have them to compare to anymore.

Doesn’t seem like it would rub if it was straight but thought I would ask. Every picture I can find it looks like it’s straight as well.

Planning on removing drag link and tie rod for new heim joint install this weekend.

Seen lots of people mistakenly mount the drag link rod end on the spindle. Castle nut should be on the top of the spindle arm and not underneath. If the rod end gets mounted wrong, the drag link doesn’t have enough clearance in a turn or steer axle flex and gets crammed into the frame and becomes bent.

That makes sense. Will check that thanks.

Exactly what you described is what I found. Got the rod fairy straight using a vise. Will reinstall it correctly when my new helms show up. Thanks for the help.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
