There is probably a way to do it, even though we have pretty limited space in our tractors... The Caterpillar Challengers, especially the older ones, models 35 up to the 95, all used "differential steering" and steered with a normal steering wheel. The drivetrain was all standard stuff in the normal configuration, but on one of the axle shafts AFTER the main differential was a large bevel gear that meshed with a hydraulic motor with much smaller bevel gear. With the steering wheel centered (driving straight), the motor would freewheel as it was turned by the axle shaft. Turning the steering wheel would either speed up or slow down the hydraulic motor & the axle shaft causing the other axle shaft to spin the opposing speed thru the main diff. Excellent idea given that, in theory, there are no parts to wear out. Plus, if you were stopped, you could make the tractor spin in a slow circle where it sits.
