Question 1512 Help

I need help. I have a 1512 that is completely dead when you turn the key. The battery is good. I shut it off and went back a few minutes later to finish cutting and it won’t do anything.

Where can I find the electrical diagram for them?

Thanks in advance.

My 1572 did that when I first got it and the circuit breaker had corrosion on the studs. There is a service manual in the manual section that has the schematic.

Welcome to Only Cub Cadets.

You need to find a chassis service manual for the 1512 or 882. I'm pretty sure the 782D wiring is the same, but may have some minor differences. Here is a link to the 782D schematic.

If it won't crank, I'd be checking the PTO and brake pedal switch.

I think this is it.

The 1572 is real close to the 1512 which is a yellow 782D.

Well.... 1572 is a SGT. But wiring should be similar.

Hi flametamer, welcome to the forum. Here is a schematic for a 1512. Send me a pm if this is too small for you to read. cubdieselfan is right about the circuit breaker. I had the same problem on my 782D and 1572. There is a service bulletin that was put out on the cb. when assembled in the factory, the crimped ring terminal went on the cb stud against a the plastic backiing then was secured with a nut and washer. The connection would heat up melt the plastic and be a real crummy connection. The update in the bulletin, had you put a nut on the stud, then put on the ring terminal, followed by a washer and another nut, thereby putting the ring terminal between two pieces of metal. I have a copy of the service bulletin and will post it (once I find it).

I found the service bulletin. It says it pertains to 1572D and 1772D, BUT I had the same condition with my 782D.

Thanks for the replies. I had already ordered a key switch b/c preheat side had burnt out. That didn't help anything, so I'll check the circuit breaker this evening.

Now that I’ve finally had time to look at it, it does appear
to be the circuit breaker. What is rated?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
