Your throttle and choke cables aren't mounted proper in the clamps.

You can disassemble the fuel shut off valves and clean them out with a couple drill bits by hand.

Idle speed is set with a screw on the side of the carb.

Thank you for the picture, I set the cables correct so i get full sweep of the throttle and choke. The choke is fine but the throttle is weird. It idles fine and if i start to move the lever it barley makes a change till i hit WOT then it seems to be fine. No misses or sputters at WOT this seems to run amazing and happy. |

Still need to move the throttle clamp up so that there's more travel (earlier) in the throttle cable.

That's not it either though. The cable is physically pulling the lever but the butterfly in the carb isn't moving. I'll pull the air cleaner off and get better pictures tomorrow.

Sounds like the governor is out of adjustment or sticking, It looks like there's a bit of rust in the pics, something may hanging up.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
