Easily worth that if it runs.

What’s the giveaway Sam?

I’m not familiar with all the subtleties between the years.

1861 and late 1541's have the Hydro Gear pump. Knob on the tunnel cover for the release.

That's why you're the resident expert! So it could be a late 1541 as well?

Early 1541's have the Sundstrand pump, late 1541's have Hydro Gear pumps. Knob on the tunnel at the left rear is the give away for a Hydro Gear.

If the OP can get a pic of the serial model tag we can tell for sure what it is.

I don't like that the heat shield tins on the engine are missing, it may have gotten hot.

That's also the side with the fuel pump and starter, both kinda common problem children on the M18.

But for $100, there's enough good stuff there to make it a buy if I was local and in the market for another project.

I asked for a picture of the tag and got this instead. Pretty much sums it up I guess. He has all the manuals and the side covers. Looks like it has never left the town it was bought in.

Just thought I would put it out there for some one else. I know all that have contributed to this thread are way out of range even more so than me but you never know.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
