you guys wont like me
I use bolts in the driveshaft coupler on all my tractors. Its not a rig up - it is so much nicer to do any maintenance on the clutch, shaft, etc. than driving out spirol pins. Especially on a narrow frame setup.

Those bolts will ruin the couplers and input shaft on the trans. Spirol pins are used for a reason. The 1512 I used to own had 1/4" bolts in place of all of the spirol pins, and it wrecked all of the couplers and was starting to mess up the input shaft on the trans. Lose the bolts and put back what belongs there.

I found this mod on a Cub I purchased, this PO was way ahead of his time with the quick driveshaft removal modification. He must have had to replace a lot of hydro fans in his day.

Out of curiousity, anyone think there would be aproblem with that MOPAR filter? I stock those (or sometimes the FL-1A Ford Version that fits my Slant6 and my minvan).
I have one sitting now and need to change the hydro oil on my 1450. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
