I have no problem viewing the attachment in the earlier post.

Try this..... V/R

My Bad, I was under the assumption, you bought the correct Cub Cadet V/R. I didn't realize you bought a aftermarket replacement (Stens).

As indicated in the previous diagram...

Gray Wire to BAT
Blue Wire to GEN
Yellow Wire to F or Field
White Wire to Case Ground

Insulate and DO NOT use the "L" or Load Terminal.

The V/R you bought is really for the CCO and the 70/100 series Cubs.

Thanks for the help.

You can use the one you bought, just install as mentioned above.

I have gone through hell trying to get mine sorted out. Turns out the generator had a wire needing repair. Intermittent charge/no charge. Mostly no charge. AND the new regulator I bought is defective!!!

Made for a real head scratcher.

Will have both SG and new Reg back from rebuiler today sometime. Not sure when I'll get installed.

Thanks Roland. She's all hooked up, I'm gonna try firing her up tonight to see if the V/R works correctly. I know how you feel Roger. My 108 wasn't charging when i first got here. A friend of mine started playing with the points in the V/R, turns out it was a bad brush in the S/G. But then the V/R didn't work because the points were off. But before we figured that out i purchased a new S/G, when the original was probably fine. We got the V/R to work, but when i run the 108 it overcharges. Pins the gauge way over. So that's why i'm replacing the original V/R. I read a post on here where someone's V/R was overcharging and his battery burst into flames. I want to avoid that!

That's what mine was doing. I think it was the wrong VR, and caused the SG to put out more than it could stand. My battery water level went low too. It worked fine for my Dad, but I have lights, and winch. He never did, so I'm working it harder.

In my case, I think perhaps I was demanding too much of the charging system running the winch to raise/lower the snowblade.

After one about two hour clean up, there was steam coming from under the seat at the regulator, and the ammeter was showing full discharge. When I took the reg out, the "hot" wires had both burned the insulation off for about 8 inches. Don't know if snow soaked regualator, or if regulator fried on it's own. One "post" in it is burned dark too.

The new regulator has a broken wire in it. So being new it is going back warranty. It never worked from the start. Both were checked out for me by a rebuilder.

I am mounting a separate battery to run the winch from now on, not connected to trhe charging system.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
