Sounds like you may have a broken or missing clutch return spring and maybe a bad release bearing.. all common and easy to repair.. steering box wear is common also, but not a bad repair... I really like the 7hp tractors for utility work.. they are the smoothest running single cylinder K series. A little short on power for much heavy mowing but they do suffice. Keep us posted on your progress!

The clutch return spring was broke and just hanging down. I replaced it but didn't help with pedal. For now I got it pulled up with a bungy cord. It makes noise the first little movement of clutch pedal. When pushed further down, not much noise. I look thru the hole where the creeper lever would be and watch driveshaft til it stops turning. Then put in gear. I been riding it around in the field just about every afternoon. Been pricing the clutch parts on here and I see to rebuild the whole clutch assembly could cost more than the tractor.
