LTX1050 Lethargic Propulsion
My LTX1050 began to loose propulsion over time. While mowing the yard the travel forward seemed to be bogging down gradually until at the half way point of the lawn the tractor would no longer go forward or backward. A couple of days later I started it up and it seemed to travel normally for awhile and then the same thing happened. This is now the pattern.
I took the transaxle off and checked the fluid level. It is full but black. The fan moves ok. I cleaned out around the moving parts on the outside of the casing. I'm not in a hurry to take the casing apart if I don't have to. The seals are fine - no leakage. No odd noise coming from the transmission area. Can anyone suggest what might be happening and how I should tackle this issue? Thank You Bryan |

Ok. Well there you go. Then you have to go with DeltaCub's advice. Find another rear end. If you decide to take it apart and try to fix it...... good luck. Please don't take it apart then come back asking what parts you need and where to buy them. Go look and see what parts are available first so you can make an informed decision on what is better to do. (Repair/used/new)

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
