Changing blades on a 3 blade deck
Hi, newbie here. Most likely a silly question, however, how do I go about changing the blades on my belted 3 blade deck? Deck is currently removed. Also, should I get new OEM blades or sharpen the old ones? Old ones look pretty good but do I need to be concerned about balancing? Thanks in advance!

Hello and first, . Next, with the deck removed, use a wooden block to hold the blades in place (just need to hold the blade that you are removing in place if your belt for the spindle pulleys is removed). Then, using an air ratchet, unbolt the blade from the spindle assembly while noting the direction and side of the blade (use a sharpie if needed). Sharpen your blade and balance it. Then you can replace it and move on to the next one, until all 3 are sharpened and balanced. No need to replace blades if they are still good.
As far as if they need balanced, the answer is YES. If you don't balance them and they are rotating at a high rate of speed, then that will cause unnecessary stress on your spindles and all of their components, which will eventually lead to bigger problems then just balancing your blades. Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
