I am not a small engine guy, can’t pretend to be. The carb is new, in a box.
I am looking for someone in OH, IN, or MI.... somewhat close to where the 3 states meet, that can get this running for me
Everyone can use a bit of cash on the side, correct?

I bought a 782 a couple months ago, and it had a new carb already on it. Apparently, the new carbs have the choke lever in a different position. When I pulled out my choke, it opened the choke, just the opposite of what it should be. I removed the clip that holds the choke cable and mounted it closer to the dash and shortened the cable, so now it works as it should.

Some of the Chi---naa carbs have the choke butterfly installed so they pull from the other direction.
Also, some kt/mag engine equipped tractors (782's) have a longer cable and it is routed in a ( "U" )to pull from the front of the engine and is secured to the boss on the air cleaner elbow pictured right near where the linkage is attached to the cable now.

Yep, that's the way my choke cable was, looped and mounted from the front. The carb came with the tractor (already installed) and runs well, just a wrong choke mount. I used the original clip and screw, and it fit the holes on the intake perfectly.

IIRR, the walbro carb on the later magnum engines pulls from the rear unlike the KT's that are looped and pulls from the front.
Your replacement carb does have a main jet adjustment, which is good to have.
Do be aware some replacement carbs, while looking similar, have dissimilar parts as far as jet screws, inlet/needle valve and bowl gaskets,
depending on country or origin.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
