Use the cast in mark on the crankshaft and dimple on the camshaft. No degree wheel needed. Use the free technical manual for instructions on setting timing. EZ PZ!

I meant ignition timing.
And thank you Delta cub and R Bedell for the quick response. There is no mark on the flywheel, the only thing I see is the ring gear for the starter. |

I think Deltas response was from the assumption that you were putting the engine back together. If you have not disassembled the engine those timing Mark's she spoke of should not have moved. If that's the case then the only timing nessisary will be at the points. The internal timing should never "jump timing" unless theres something broken internally

I have never seen any marks on the flywheel.
I cleaned it (and sand blasted) the flywheel before I put it in my 72, there is no marks. |

It's okay, I'll just do it the way I used to set up V8 motors I used to race in the past.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
