Possible 108 Purchase
It’s been a while since I posted here, and it’s been a while since I owned a Cub Cadet. At one time I had several CCs, almost all narrow frames, and most of them were 104s. I haven’t had one in about 8 years, but since I now own two Farmall Cubs, it’s got me interested again in Cub Cadets as well.
I found a 108 that’s been re-powered by a 12 hp. I haven’t seen it yet, but the seller says it hasn’t run in about a year, so I expect fuel related issues. From the pictures it doesn’t look too bad. It’s not too far from me, so I may go stand in front of it to see it firsthand. |

I'd buy it, the 108s are good tractors. Make sure the brakes work and the clutch disengages. It looks way nicer than my 108, plus it's probably more mechanically sound. My 108 had no brakes, a completely locked clutch, fuel leaks, the whole 9 yards.
Mine was nice with the original 10 horse in it. Very rare sight to see it didn't have a K301. I'd say go for it! |

I have a 108 with a 12hp in it and it's a very capable tractor.

Here's one not too far from me that was $700 last week, now down to $600. CL ads don't last, so here is the text and a couple pictures from the ad.
"I have a 70's model International Cub Cadet with deck but deck needs work. I am asking $600 or best offer tractor runs good and everything works. Mower deck works but needs new pulleys and has some rust spots. Text me if interested 540-87two-8nine9two. Mower has new tires front and back and new generator." https://richmond.craigslist.org/grd/...706620354.html Wrong tires and wrong seat, but otherwise mostly unmolested.

I've been thinking about the skid steer tires for my tractor..... I think it is sort of a compromise between ags and turfs.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
