Thanks for the tip Stan! I was always under the impression that a 1864 plate was a direct bolt in for a 782/Command swap.... guess I was wrong! I've messed with plenty of K series and Mags but this new fangled Command V twin stuff is uncharted territory for me!

Nice work, like the snubber idea.
You are going to love this tractor when it’s done.

Thanks Terry! I know you had a 782 with a Command awhile back... did you re drill the KT engine mount plate or use a Cyclops plate... still not sure why my Cyclops engine plate didn't bring the Command back far enough?

I did a 782 Command swap this summer. I was given a 1641 plate, which had 2 engine bolt patterns as I recall, but neither lined up properly. I ended up redrilling my KT plate, using the PTO flange as my reference point. I used a 2000 series driveshaft conversion on mine.

Thank you for that info! I also tried to use a 1641 plate.. which has the same part number as an 1864 plate.. it's supposed to work.. I could tell where the Briggs was mounted.. I used the other set of holes.. which fit the Kohler perfect.. who knows.. glad to hear that you had the same issue.. makes me feel better!

Looks like I have some drilling to do! I will either move the holes back one inch like Stan stated or take the old KT plate and come 3/4 forward from the slots like you and others have done..

Just to find the time now!

I wonder if you got the wrong drive shaft? 1864 or 1863 shaft and motor plate should be plug and play.

Sam, I thought the same thing... one of the shafts was supposedly an 1864 shaft but I never verified it... It did come from a reputable Cub Cadet parts dealer.. So then I pulled it back out and in the meantime I had purchased another shaft from a friend that parted an 1864... low and behold both are the same length.. He did verify that he only had an 1864 shaft since that was the only Cyclops he had ever parted out. Do you happen to have the different lengths for the different models or know where I could find a list?

Last night just for the heck of it I tried to fit the grille assy... nope , no go.. the muffler and shield are too far forward Somewhere in the neighborhood of 3/4" to 1"..

I am in full agreement with you.... the 1641/1864 plate should have worked.. Leave it to me to get ahold of an oddball or hybrid plate!

I started to re drill the KT plate last night based on some other members drawings and what they did.. Everybody I find that has done this used a re drilled KT plate?

At this point it doesn't really matter... I am just curious with the Cyclops and the 82 series frames supposedly being the same why didn't it work?

Well I re drilled the KT plate as per directions on here by others that have done this conversion... everything fits and works now!.. Guess I have a nice 1641/1864 plate now if anyone needs it!

I used 1/2 inch spacers under the engine as the 1864 does... looks like the driveshaft runs uphill toward the engine? Wonder if I should use it without spacers? Any suggestions?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
