I've named a few machines over the years.
The ones that seemingly had the"will" to be special. None of my Cubs has struck me this way, yet. I am fairly new to CC's and I have hope for them.

All you guys who like to cuss your garden tractors when they are broke tickle me. (I know it's mostly tongue and cheek, but....) If you guys find GT's frustrating, you haven't worked on much, lol. Only time I ever swear working on a GT is if a bolt breaks and I have to get it out, or something is stuck, like a mechanical PTO..... if those allen set screws are stripped or stuck, that is a real PITA. Only a few issues come to mind that can't be overcome fairly easy. Wiring= simple. Won't start= simple. Won't run= simple (to diagnose, sometimes costly to fix). They just aren't hard enough to work on to get nasty names from me, lol.
While I don't name them, I do often refer to them in a gender. Don't know why, but it seems most of mine are female. |

Well Jon if you talked softly to them and they were male we'd begin to wonder!

Mine are mostly named after cubs. JavyBaez, Schwarber, Sandburg etc, or based on some characteristics I.e The Best One, The Worst One, Hubby, Disaster.

One of these days I'm gonna wise up and make payments, not pay for repairs. I think the only reason I prefer the repairs is I get bored sitting in the house.

I've never really named my cubs either. I did call my 100 Dually, because folks would comment and called the 100 Dually, and it stuck...lol! On another note, I call my 1512, Smoker.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
