Default Introduction

Hi Guys,

Just joined OCC. I'm purchasing a 122 that is virtually untouched. It did have the motor rebuilt. I'm new to the garden tractors as I've been in the Ford Golden Jubilee space since 2005 when I restored my grandfather's tractor he bought new in 53. My son is into the garden tractors mostly mud mowers. We saw PA plow days and decided to jump in. Can't wait to start the restore process. I'm going to lean on the group for pointers and suggestions so thanks in advance. We are in Central PA so I will attend the Spring Centre county antique tractor show on June 2. Hope to find lots of good stuff to pick up. That's all for now. Have a great tractor day!

Welcome to the group Tim. I just got done installing the rear lift, changing the oil, replacing the tie rods and getting the carb all tuned up, with any luck i will have time to get the mower deck installed tomorrow and then it will be ready for you to pick up.

Here's some pics of the 122 Tim is getting from me, the last pic is of the IH bolts holding the fenders on.

Congrats on getting into the "hobby"
And a 4x4 besides, now that's cool.
What the heck Tim (Olds) where's the rest of the IH bolts?
Tim, I think you'll be happy with a tractor from Tim, cause Tim knows his stuff with tractors, and his name is the same as yours Tim. Tim.
there's good information here, and some guys named Tim.

Welcome to the forum and the hobby!

Congrats on scoring a really nice unit.. heck it doesn't even look like it needs to be restored!

And you are getting it from Tim?! Nah just kidding.. you will be getting an extra good deal if Tim was involved... he is a great guy and very knowledgeable about these little beasts!

Just a fair warning.. these little tractors are very addicting!

You can download this and other manuals in the technical library on this forum.

Here is a link to the operators manual: http://onlycubcadets.net/forum/showthread.php?t=4662

And, these are very easy to get hooked on. I got my first IH one last summer, and I have got 2 more since then, and still want more.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
