Default SGT brake backing plate worn?

I see SGT brake pads are NLA. I've seen posts suggest repadding them in the past, but not any that really document the process or where to find materials.

I also have another brake pad issue that a repadding isnt gonna fix. Mine has quite a lot of pad on them, but they barely work. When I went to adjust them I found that the caliper "arm" or lever or whatever you want to call it, had worn a notch into the backside of the pad's backing plate. The result being that I cant really adjust it tight enough regardless of amount of pad. I'm not sure what to do with it beyond break out the welder I havent unpacked yet, and I'm pretty sure that would destroy the pad material. Have any of yall encountered this yet?

The 759-3185 Brake Pad was used on hundreds of models of Cub Cadet Tractors. Maybe a Internet Search for NOS or good used will bare some fruit.

Switch the pads, inside to outside.

My Dad's 1872 had the same problem. I got a diestock out and threaded the brake rod a little more so I get the adjustment I needed.I had gotten some lining material from McMaster.com then used JB Weld to put the new lining on the backing plates. I don't remember the part number I used, I'll do some digging or if another member may know off the top of their head.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
