Default How long should the bolts be for the 3 Point on a Cub Cadet Original?

I have a 1961 Cub Cadet Original and I recently bought a 3 Point/ Sleeve hitch for it that bolts into the rear of the rear end. How long should the extended bolts have to be into the rear end and how much should I torque them down to?

The bolts should 1/4" longer than what comes out, or 3/8"-16 x 1.25" Grade 5. Torque Charts are indicating 30 FtLb.

I've heard if I tighten them too far or if I get bolts a little to long, I could break the rear end. Is that true? I'm getting bolts from my local hardware store

Yes it is VERY TRUE!!
You do not want to do that as they will leak forevermore!!

What's on there now, just the drawbar??
If so, just add the thickness of whatever you are going to add, be it a single lower section or the dual sections some use and you will have the length of bolt you need.

Edit: I was pretty sure I put 1 1/4" bolts in the 149 when bolting on a 1/4" plate, but obviously I am wrong. I did run a bottoming tap in first to get max thread depth.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
