Temporary fuel tank...
I need to make a temporary fuel tank for a tractor I am working on and was thinking about using 4" PVC pipe. Anyone know if it is compatible with diesel??

But there might be an issue with static electricity in some large applications without grounding. In your situation using it for a temporary small engine fuel tank, I don't see an issue. |

We have a temp tank at work made out of PVC. We use it for gas and diesel and have been using it for 10yrs now without issue.

You use it to run tractors that you're restoring?

Got one off a Briggs, must be 30 years old--it was on a cement mixer and still has cement splatters. Has a valve under the bottom and a bracket where we can tie it on or bolt it down (if possible).

Valve's a good idea.

We use it to test run tractors so we don't have to mount the real tank.

I'm checking out a tractor for a friend. It's been sitting in his barn (that I built for him) for over 20 years. The tank, even though full of red fuel, is very rusty. The filter had some brown crud in it that felt gritty but my magnet wouldn't pick it up. Maybe algae but I never came across any gritty algae???
The fuel that came out of the filter was surprisingly clean but did not smell like any diesel that I ever smelled so I drained the whole system and plan on setting up the temporary tank with new fuel line and filter before I try to crank it over. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
