Default Baffle gasket necessary?

Have a question. Is the baffle gasket on the carb necessary? I had a carb from a old Allis Chalmers 410 that I removed and put on my 127. It is the same exact carb. The reason I'm asking is that I put a rebuild kit on the carb from the AC 410 about 5 yrs ago and before I got the 127 running again I took the bowl off and cleaned the carb but tore the baffle gasket and didn't put it back on. It runs fine and there are no leaks so that's why I'd like to know the purpose of that gasket.

I looked in the Technical library and couldn't find anything. Is there another section I might find the answer?

I guess no one knows what a baffle is that you have located on a carb??

Do you mean bowl gasket??

I am sure that the bowl could work without a gasket about half the time,,
the bowl gasket is kinda an insurance thing,,
making it positive the gas does not leak if the tractor is parked on a steep grade??

Possibly the "baffling" thing is the gasket between the bowl and carb where there is also a square "O" ring located.
I believe it is to help reduce the splashing of fuel in the bowl.
If you find it works in your situation without it, I see no real problem.

OK, sorta makes sense. The original carb on the 127 didn't have one and it ran without one.

Thanks, OK I've never ran into that problem here because a steep grade in Fl is non existence situation.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
