Default 1872 plow

Well I picked up a 46" green and yellow dozer blade, that I was going to make work on the super. The next the guy I bought the tractor from notified me he had a line on the 54" Haban that would be correct for the tractor. So I called the guy that had it, rented a trailer and took the hour and a half ride to get it. Pretty decent shape, needed the rear mount for the tractor. I cut a couple of pieces of 1/4" plate to fab up a set, then thought , what the heck, everyone needs to make a living, so I ordered them and the skid shoes from ccs. ( if they are rinky dinky, I'll just use them as a pattern and make some robust ones) looking forward to using a plow with Hydraulic lift and turn. The "arm strong " on the 1440 needs a break. (So do I) Gary C

You will enjoy the 1872 w/Haban 54" hyd angle plow to keep the white stuff under control. After about 40 years plowing snow with a hand lift 42" blade, I was happy to upgrade to a Cub hydro and 54" plow.

Have fun

The rear mount plates came yesterday, flame or laser cut. ,nice heavy 1/4" material. Needed a good deburing. (Only problem, I ordered two, and got two sets) I'll have to return one set. Fired up the torpedo heater and painted them in the garage. (Hung them in the basement to dry good overnight) The "wishbone" off the swivel bracket had broken welds and was bent a little. I had an old ram from a Hydraulic jack in my tool box that I used quite frequently as a screw jack, that came in handy again to push it back out to reweld it. Looks like the Hydraulic hoses may need replacement and the quick couplers are pretty rusty. They may be ok once they are wire wheeled and polished . I think it may have been used as a dozer blade for dirt because there is a lot packed behind the cutting edge and it has the four springs on it and the skid shoes were missing. The cutting edge mounted to the bladelooks really good though. There is a set of "loaded tires" on craigslist now and the guy also has a set of tire chains to go on them so that will probably be my Christmas present to me. Gary

Thanks Steve,

It makes snow removal a more enjoyable task. You get a lot more snow in Michigan than we get here. I'm still looking forward to trying my new old toy out. The last couple years it was the 1440 with the plow, occasionally the 782 with the blower, and the Case 646 to push it up on piles. Then I sold the 782. Then this last summer, I sold the Case 646. The new to me 33 yr old 1872, will be a new experience with the power steering and hydraulics.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
