1914 super whining noise
I have a 1914 Cub Cadet that has a high pitch whining noise. After 2 years of use I decided to change the rear end fluid. I used Cub Cadet hytrans and a Cub Cadet filter. On startup tractor has a high pitch whining noise. Sounds like it's coming from the engine but I know noises travel. I cut 2 Acres of grass twice with it to make sure any air bubbles would be out. But it still makes high pitch whining noise. Any ideas out there would be helpful thank you.

I had a very loud whining noise when I first got it. While it was whining I accidentally put a downward pressure on the top of the tunnel cover and the noise stopped. Looking at it further some of the screws for the tunnel cover were loose allowing it to turn into a sounding board. Snugged the screws up and it was quiet as normal.

Can you elaborate more? "whining noise" is a bit hard to define.
Is it quiet or loud? Can you idle down and hear where it is coming from better, or does it vary with RPMs? Is it continuous or does it stop/start when you engage pto? Do you have attachments on it when it is "whining"? Does it sound internal or external? Do you hear it when it is parked, or when you are moving? Hyrdo setups are generally noisier. Perhaps you know this, just stating a point. Again, how loud is it? Help us help you. Another note... you say you think the sound is coming from the engine and it started after changing Hytrans. Are you thinking they are related?

How about a video uploaded to Youtube (or wherever), and linked here. Amazes me when people want us to diagnose things that require seeing, but don't post pictures, or want us to identify a noise we can't hear.

How did you drain it? Did you use the drain plug near the suction tube and possibly knock it loose or crack the tube somehow? If you did drain it from there, could there be a lot of gelled up moisture that got sucked into the filter on start up? I like to drain them from the back and clean the inside real good but if your machine still has all the cat 0 & rear pto stuff it is time consuming. Is the oil foaming now?
