90 Degree tiller gearbox seal numbers?
Hello everyone: Thanks for letting me in on all the great info! I am currently working on my late uncles, now mine 1450 hydro with tiller the 90 degree gearbox. It is leaking out the bottom. It runs smooth and feels good but I would like to rebuild it so it does not sling oil all over. I have read on here, and can't seem to come up with good aftermarket bearing and seal numbers for the gearbox. Also, do I just fill it with 80/90 after the rebuild thanks!
Admin: Corrected spelling and add punctuation so it is readable. |

check out the sponsors at the top of the page, they have what you need.
I use gear oil you only have to fill about 1/3 up. |

What model tiller are you working on and do you have seal or bearing numbers that you are looking for?

Doesn't matter what model, they are all the same. Except for the really old snowthrower boxes... they were slightly different. See this thread for lubrication info. Tiller box takes the same chit. Don't use straight oil: http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=46853 |

Take it apart. The bearing and seal numbers should be on all the parts. I don't recall all the numbers off the top of my head. Somewhere out in the garage I have a complete set. They cross easy by size too.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
