Just read the complete thread...nice work! I said it before, I am liking those red 82 series tractors! A red one would go well with my green ones. Just sayin'

Just checked the rubber matting on the link and thought it was rather expensive. I bought some at Lowes several years ago that was only several dollars. They sell it by the foot which is enough for one tractor.

I was able to cut out 6 pairs of mats with the $30 roll. By contrast, one of our sponsors sells precut foot pads for almost $60 a single pair. Now their pads are adhesive backed, but for the difference, I have no issue buying an aerosol can of 3M adhesive to affix them to the tractor.

Looks great 1711. Here's a shot of my original 682 Ser#693xxx made at the end of the run. I picked this one up from the original owner.

This one kinda ran rough and I was not able to get acceptable performance from it. Since it ran beautiful in it's original tractor, my 1986 1811, I knew the basic engine was probably ok. The carb is the original Carter fully adjustable unit from the blown KT17 series II. I never tore it down before. Well, I finally got around to do it. Upon disassembly, the carb wasn't really filthy, or corroded. I did find some sediment in the bowl. I sourced new Kohler gasket and carb kit. I did not want to succumb to a Chyna carb, since the throttle shaft was tight on this one, and they are a better quality casting and parts quality. After everything was cleaned, inspected and float adjusted, it went together well. After reassembly, it started up quickly, and was easily adjusted to run smooth at all speeds and loads.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
