Wink

This machine had the shakes, and here's why:

I replaced all 8 isomounts and it is far smoother now.

The drag link had loose ends. New ones fixed the slop

Did you replace the isomounts with OEM?

Yes I did. I collected a set of 8 original top bushings and hardware and used them. The latest offerings from MTD are harder compound than original issue, so they don't isolate the shakes as well as the original issue parts.

Interesting. I have heard that the new ones are a different compound as are the "aftermarket" isolators. I have also heard of people using the aftermaket isolators on top and OEM tops on the bottom.

I've seen some are using car stabilizer bar end link bushings in place of the very expensive MTD parts. I wonder how they are working for them?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
