Default 190-450 Snowblower Impeller

Got a new 190-450 snowblower that I'm going to mount on my new-to-me 982. Everything seems tight except the impeller itself. It's very loose; could almost describe it as flopping around inside its housing. Is it normal for the impeller to have some play built into it or is something off?

There is suppose to be no play, the shaft or input on the impeller is worn.

the fix. https://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/...ad.php?t=28907

Terrific...

Well if it's that slopped out I wonder what other parts I'm probably going to have to replace.

OK, so if it's gotta come apart, how do you get at it?

Seems straight forward enough to remove the augers, but how is the impeller shaft linked to the stuff on the back-end? Does anything on the backside need to be removed to get the impeller and shaft out? Can I get the impeller and its shaft removed through the front?

With apologies for necroing an old post...

Herniated a disc in my spine earlier this summer, so never got around to implementing the advice in this thread. Feeling better now though, so I should be able to get after it with some help from a friend!

Ordered the spline coupler, got that in the mail yesterday. What shaft would I need to buy to replace that? Stands to reason if the coupler is getting replaced so is the actual shaft it's on. Or could a machine shop spray-weld and re-lathe it down to spec again?

And what has to come apart on the back end of the blower? Or is it all accessible from the front end once I get the augers out?

Thanks!

I'd look up the exploded views of this model in the parts lookup page.
Should become self evident what's what that way.

Let me know if I'm reading this right:

The shaft https://www.weingartz.com/assembly-d...285-274-164800 part number 62, goes into the gearbox, https://www.messicks.com/cc/93234 but what's holding it in? Do I need to unmount and disassemble the whole gearbox to get to it?

62 and 45 look like they get the impeller off the shaft, but the shaft is held in by a key inside the gearbox, #16?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
