IT’S ALIVE! I was impressed at how well it started up. Better than my 2166 actually. I need to make some adjustments to the carburetor and governor, but I was able to get it to run very smooth, it just wants to rev to the max when I let off the throttle control. I have to do some homework tonight on adjusting the governor linkage and springs. ( again, this is out of my comfort zone. I’m used to fuel injectors and computer systems. ) Now that I know it runs, I can clean up my Frankenstein wires and get a real battery for it, install the ignition switch( it’s what came with it so go easy on me ) and Friday I need to replace a wheel bearing. It HAS to roll Monday because we have some big wigs comming to our dealer and I need to stash it out of sight

I got the idle all adjusted. Then I took it out for a spin in the parking lot today. Still amazed at how well it runs!
This winter I will plan on repainting it if all goes well. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
